I have disappeared for quite a while and I have no excuses. My only real excuse is the fact that I have been really busy and had a very unreliable internet connection. I am now finally on holiday and my internet connection is about to get fixed so things are looking up.
To be honest, they have been looking up for quite a while. I am quite a rational person so I find it hard to switch off my brain and follow my heart but this time I have managed and I am extremely happy with my decision. Quitting a job to go freelance is always risky, but I guess that's what I needed at the moment. Although as a freelancer you probably end up working way more than 8 hours a day, I am always happy to work. Because I like what I do, because I know I am good at it and because I can now appreciate the luxury of working from home and at my own pace (with a cup of tea on the desk, without the phone ringing every two seconds and without receiving 10 emails per minute). I know I am not going to be a freelancer forever but I will try to make the most of it while it lasts.
Having said that, I am very grateful for what I have learnt from working in an office. I have learnt to be more precise and reliable, to only every say yes to things I am 100% sure of, to be tidier (one of my big big weaknesses). It is also great to realise how many things you can learn from the people who work with you: from how to be more diplomatic to how to write business letters, how to pack parcels properly and much more.
From tomorrow it will be time for a nice wee break, a book, a cup of tea and homemade biscuits (I am truly sorry I am still not used to taking lots of pictures with my phone, our production is amazing and is constantly improving :).
I wish everyone a very nice holiday, lots of warmth and affection. Thank you for reading. Enjoy this time of the year "close to the end, where everything starts" as this song says. See you next year!
